Token Post

Malifaux and Infinity require a lot of tokens, and I wanted to do this relatively cheaply, so I recently picked up a laminator (NZD40) and got to work.

Corvus Belli (Infinity) provide some fantastic official tokens on their website, I printed off the first few pages from the main rulebook and the silhouette markers. Using some scissors for the latter and a 25mm round hole punch (NZD 5) for the former and I now have an extensive set.

Wyrd (Malifaux) unfortunately doesn't have free official ones and decided to be 30mm based instead. So googling some images, resizing to 3cm by 3cm in word, then printing was the ticket here. I then used scissors and a spare 30mm base (well not spare, had to pop a Death Marshall off temporarily) to cut out a decent circle for each.

I made some faction based scheme counters, shield counters, some positive/negative flip counters and a void counter.

Now I have plenty of counters ready for battle.

What else can I laminate....?

Infinity and Scenery

Getting some more regular games of Infinity going so I picked up some new terrain. Have heard good things regarding the pre painted/printed plast craft games so acquired 2 double modules, 2 two door simple modules and a curved modular building from mighty ape.

They come mostly pre-cut for the big pieces but do require some parts being pushed out. Very little tidy up required with a craft knife.

Super glue is best used, and the pdf instructions + pics on the box make the assembly quite speedy.

In one evening I have 5 new buildings ready to go! The doors, windows, roofs and ladders are removable too.

Had a couple of games on Tuesday night and they worked great creating interesting movement options with all the Infinity orders.

However it really highlights my need to paint the rest of the buildings....

Weekend gaming variety

Well I'm about a week late with these photos - but worth a post none the less.

Last weekend Wellington had some visitors from near (Levin) and far (London) and we settled into a variety of gaming related activities.

Played some more Cthulhu wars (refer previous posts for pics) - then we busted out an old gem you may be familiar with called Magic: The Gathering:

What do you mean 'tapping?'
We also played a fantastic game called Mansions of Madness - 4 victorian era nutcases investigating a haunted house while being chased around by zombies.

My character was this dashing gentlemen who spent far too long investigating horror mysteries and not enough time at the gym (read, high INT low CON)

He developed an bad dose of kleptomania and went around stealing peoples stuff while blasting zombies with his shrivelling spell

However he met his end when a nasty zombie special attack took away 2/3 of his health and gave him some internal bleeding. He crawled into a corner and slowly died while the others won the day...

Also finally later on in the weekend I had my first go at 3rd Edition Infinity. My Haqqislam starter kit teamed up with a friends PanO versus some Nomads and Ariadna.

Terrain is very important

The opening shot was my sniper grunt making a crit kill against the enemy sniper (good rolls!) and the firepower of our side got quite fortunate early on. There was a lot of rule checking (we are all new players) but looking like a promising game system.

Terrain is very important and each player is constantly involved with the ARO system (basically reacting to enemy movement). Looking forward to learning more about it.

Infinity & Twin Gheists - Current WIP

Been painting a bit sporadically since being back from holiday. Multiple hobby projects turning over in my head as usual and the arrival of my Limited Edition Dark Vengeance box only added to this.

However I had already decided that I would get the Yu Jing starter I bought for Infinity painted up first before anything else. (apologies for the photos but they were phone pics as the Camera had a post(thankfully)holiday fit and will be off for repairs asap)

I painted these in brighter colours than I usually work with, wanting to reflect the more anime feel of the models. The 'yellow' is Tausept Ochre with Iyanden Darksun on top. Fenris Blue, black wash then succesive lighter layers on the armour. The green is the new Sybarite green which is pretty cool. Green wash then layered up and highlighted. I was going to do a bit more on them but they are fine for play once we give the game a go. I will give them a suitable urban base scheme when I see something I like.

The next thing to work on is the pair of Terrorgheists I picked up in the States. The one leaning down was made following the Terrorgheist build exactly while the one rearing up was using the Zombie Dragon leg/wing build but the Gheist head/neck.

There are a lot of knooks and crannys on these beasties so painting is going to be all sorts of fun. Thet're only blutacked to the bases so at least that makes things easier. They'll be seeing action come Skitterleap time, teaming up with a couple banshees. Though a Mr Tom Dunn will tell you it wont be enough screaming and a third Gheist with Skabscrath bearing Ghoul King is what I should be doing ;)

I am resisting painting Space Marines until after these two are done but after putting together the Dark Angel Captain and Librarian from Dark Vengeance its going to be hard.
